How One Kansas City Security Company Teaches Home Protection

A recent Kansas City crime report cited that out of a total of 31,650 reported offenses last year, there were 25,790 property crimes in The Kansas City area. That’s a pretty high percentage (81%) and a statistic that homeowners in Kansas City should take seriously!

While burglary protection is never guaranteed, there are steps you can take to decrease your vulnerability. The goal of this post is to provide some ideas to help Kansas City residents keep their homes safe.

Three D’s Of Kansas City Home Security:

  1. Deterrence: Don’t make yourself a target. Make it look like you are home, even when you aren’t. Have security signs and decals posted so potential intruders know the house is protected. Keep your home well lit and keep doors and windows clearly visible (trim your shrubs!) And finally, keep valuables out of sight.
  2. Denial: Burglars are lazy. (if they weren’t, they’d have a real job!) Deny them the opportunity to break in in the first place by  always keeping your doors and windows locked. Put deadbolts on exterior doors and put sticks in tracks of sliding doors and windows to make it harder for them to walk in.
  3. Detection: Be proactive. Prepare your home with the tools needed to stop crime in the first place. Consider a monitored security system to rapidly alert you and the police in the event of a break-in. Or, strategically place avideo camera at key points around your property. This will act as a deterrent and an aid to apprehension and prosecution.
